NEW YORK CITY — It may technically be spring in New York City, but the city has a cold rain storm with chances for snow coming midweek, forecasters said.

Following rain on Monday, Tuesday night has a 40 percent chance of snow and rain showers, according to forecasters from the National Weather Service.

However, AccuWeather predicts higher chances for the storm. According to AccuWeather, there is a 65 percent chance of rain on Tuesday night and a 55 percent chance of rain on Wednesday during the day.

"We’re looking at a series of cold fronts and storms sweeping from the Mississippi Valley to the mid-Atlantic through late this week,” AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Expert Paul Pastelok said. “This will keep temperatures down and cut short any warmups ahead of the storms. Overall, we’re expecting temperatures to be 5-10 degrees below the historical average as a whole for the end of March."
