ARMONK, NY — It's a sad moment when Frosty the Snowman melts away as the mercury rises, but "don't you cry," because the 13th Annual Frosty Day is taking place this weekend in his hometown of Armonk and you can help welcome Frosty home for the holidays.

Long-time Armonk resident, Steve Nelson, wrote the famous 1950 "Frosty the Snowman" tune, and according to Frosty Day organizers, the historic district in Armonk was the inspiration for the "Village Square" where Frosty the Snowman dared the children to "catch me if you can."

Late town board member, Becky Kittredge told the Journal News in 2011 that Armonk's former chief of police, John Hergenhan, was the inspiration for the policeman in the song who hollered "Stop!"
