Large Tree Falls On Car On Rte. 120, Passengers Escape Serious Injury

The road was closed for about 30 minutes while debris was removed from the road and the accident victims were treated by EMS.

NEW CASTLE, NY — A matter of inches made the difference between a catastrophe and a happy ending when a tree fell on a car full of people this weekend.

Just after 1:30 on Saturday, the Millwood Fire Department was dispatched along with the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Westchester EMS to a report of large tree that fell on an occupied car near Gedney Park. Car 2252 and Chief McCarthy arrived first on scene, confirming that everyone in the car managed to escape from the vehicle.

When Car 2251, Chief Rodrigues, Car 2253, Chief Santone, Engine 247 and Rescue 36 arrived on the scene, Route 120 was closed for about 30 minutes while debris was removed from the road and the accident victims were evaluated by EMS.
