Man Stole Valuables From New Castle Home, Including A Safe: Police

A NJ man was charged with three felonies. New Castle police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

NEW CASTLE, NY — The New Castle Police Department says that a man from Hackensack, New Jersey was arrested on Thursday after a burglary investigation.

Police say that 43-year-old Jerry Montgomery entered a New Castle dwelling unlawfully and proceeded to remove various items from the property, including a safe.

He was charged with felony second degree burglary, felony third degree grand larceny, and felony second degree criminal mischief.

After being processed at the New Castle Police Department, Montgomery was arraigned in the Town of New Castle Justice Court on Thursday. He was remanded without bail to the Westchester County Jail and is scheduled to return to the Town of New Castle Justice Court on November 21.

New Castle police were assisted by the New York State Police, the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center, the Greenburgh Police Department, the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force, the Elmsford Police Department, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
