Multi-Agency Operation Nabs Burglary Ring Suspects Red-Handed: Police

The suspects tied to burglaries across the Hudson Valley, were already being watched when police say they hit a home in New Castle.

NEW CASTLE, NY — Four suspects tied to a Hudson Valley burglary ring have been arrested after a multi-jurisdictional operation led to a crime scene, according to police.

On May 9, around noon, the New Castle Police Department was notified by the Greenburgh Task Force that several suspects under investigation for a series of recent property crimes had just committed a residential burglary in the Town of New Castle.

New Castle police officers coordinated with the law enforcement agencies already surveilling the suspects, who were traveling in a vehicle. In what was described as a "swift and tactical operation," officers surrounded and stopped the vehicle.

Three of the four suspects in the car were taken into custody at the scene. The fourth suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was soon caught after a brief search. Stolen property was recovered by police at the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

New Castle officers located an unoccupied home nearby that showed signs of forced entry. Investigators then confirmed that the home had been burglarized by the suspects, according to police.

"The New Castle Police Department Detective Division is actively investigating the incident, with charges currently pending," NCPD said in a statement announcing the arrests. "The coordinated efforts of numerous officers were instrumental in the safe apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of stolen items, minimizing any further risk to the community... We are grateful for the dedication and professionalism of all the officers involved."

The New Castle Police Department thanked the numerous law enforcement agencies involved for their support and collaboration in the operation. Those agencies included: Town of Mount Pleasant Police Department, Town of Greenburgh Police Department, Greenburgh Task Force, New York State Police, Village of Pleasantville Police Department, Village of Briarcliff Police Department, Village of Ossining Police Department, Town of North Castle Police Department, Westchester County Department of Public Safety, Real-Time Crime Center, Department of Environmental Protection, Town of Yorktown Police Department, City of Rye Police Department, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Village of Croton-on-Hudson Police Department, Town of Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
