Police Hunt For Culprits Behind Leonard Park Vandalism
This past weekend, a white, mid-sized, 4-door vehicle drove over the park fields, tearing up the turf and making deep ruts in big circles.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — Mount Kisco Parks and Recreation officials are hoping the public can help catch those responsible for tearing up the fields at Leonard Park.
Authorities say that at 8:37 p.m. on Saturday, at least four people in a white, mid-sized, four-door vehicle drove all over the Leonard Park fields, causing the turf to be torn up and making deep ruts in big circles.
Although WCPD is working on the case, parks officials are hoping that someone who knows who is responsible will come forward.

"We of course at the Recreation Department and DPW do not find this funny nor amusing in any way as this is many hours of work to fix," parks officials said in a statement posted on social media. "These individuals parked twice to look at the mud on the sides of their vehicle so we know it was muddy. We have video of the incident and we hope eventually we will catch those responsible."

Authorities said that the sooner this case can be closed, the sooner the resources being used to find the culprits can be put to more productive use.

"Ideally, we would like them to come forward sooner to allow the police to focus on other matters," Superintendent of Recreation Kyle Thornton said. "As a community, we should all be outraged this happened. We love our park and have been working on making it more beautiful for everyone who enjoys it. These situations cause us to pause other projects along with costs that we did not anticipate to fix it. Please spread the word and hopefully someone with a conscience comes forward so we can work on a fair resolution."
