Police Issue Warning About Pickpockets After Spike In Reports
"Thieves are using distraction techniques, and usually are traveling in groups," North Castle police said in an alert issued on Thursday.

NORTH CASTLE, NY — A rise in pickpocket-type thefts has led law enforcement officials in Westchester County to issue a warning to shoppers to stay alert.
"We would like to remind everyone that when shopping in supermarkets, leaving your purse in a shopping cart while looking for groceries could be a target for thieves," North Castle police said in the alert which was posted to social media. "Thieves are using distraction techniques, and usually are traveling in groups. A crossbody type bag, where all of your cards and wallet are on your person could prove to be helpful in keeping your belongings safe."
Police also reminded shoppers that when checking out using a debit card, it's a good idea to cover your pin number so others can't view it.
