Voters Mull Changing Bedford Central's School Board Voting System

Voters in the Bedford Central School District are being asked to whether to switch to an at-large voting system or to keep fixed seats.

BEDFORD, NY - Voters in the Bedford Central School District will decide whether to change the way in which school board candidates are elected.

The referendum, called Proposition 2, asks whether candidates should be selected on an at-large basis, which is the same method that each of Bedford Central's neighboring school districts use.

Under an at-large system, the top overall vote getters win the corresponding number of available board seats. For example, if two seats are available and four people run, then the top two would be declared the winners.
