2 Hospitalized In Chelsea Shooting Outside NYCHA Complex: NYPD

CHELSEA, NY - Two men were hospitalized Tuesday night following a shooting outside a Chelsea public housing development, authorities said.

One of the victims, a 37-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen in front of 26th Street and Ninth Avenue about midnight, police said. It’s believed the shooting took place in front of NYCHA’s Elliott-Chelsea Houses at 415 West 25 St., where a second gunshot victim was found.

Both men were rushed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. A suspect description was not immediately made available, police said.

The Elliott-Chelsea Houses and nearby Fulton Houses are slated to be demolished and rebuilt due to surmounting necessary repairs. About 4,500 residents live in both complexes.
