Coyote Captured At Chelsea Piers, NYPD Says
The 40-pound male was cornered in Chelsea Piers before he was returned to the wild, officials said.

CHELSEA, NY — It’s getting wild out there. A coyote took a tour of Manhattan Saturday night into Sunday morning before police took down the wily canine with a tranquilizer dart at Chelsea Piers, authorities said.
The 40-pound male coyote was spotted Sunday at 6:40 a.m., prowling along 40th Street near 11th Avenue, police said.
Cops cornered the canine on Pier 59 around 8 a.m. before knocking the animal out with a dart and handing it over to the Animal Care Centers of NYC in Brooklyn, officials said.

Startled New Yorkers spotted the canine earlier that morning in Hell's Kitchen and Harlem.
The creature has since been examined and returned to the wild.

"The coyote was assessed and is healthy, and has been relocated to an appropriate habitat," a spokesman for Animal Care Centers of NYC said.
