Crook Attacks Chelsea Cabbie, Swipes His Keys, Police Say
A man pummeled a cabbie as he was dropping off a fare in Chelsea, police said.

CHELSEA, NY — A crook attacked a cabbie in Chelsea and swiped his keys before running off, police said Wednesday.
A 62-year-old yellow cab driver was parking his taxi in front of 60 W. 23rd St. to drop off a passenger just after midnight on Dec. 13, when a man suddenly entered the front passenger seat and slugged the driver in the face multiple times, police said.
The attacker grabbed the victim's keys from the cab's ignition and bolted east on 23rd Street towards Fifth Ave., authorities said.

The man has a dark beard and was last seen wearing a black knee-length jacket, jeans, a knit cap and sneakers.
