FBI Seeking 2 Men Who Found Chelsea Bomb, Stole Luggage
The pair, apparently oblivious, removed the rigged pressure cooker and left with the suitcase, cops say.
CHELSEA, NY — The FBI has put out an alert to find the two men who made off with the luggage containing the second, unexploded bomb in Saturday's Chelsea attack.
The two men stumbled across the luggage on the sidewalk of 27th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues within the same hour of the explosion on 23rd Street, took out the pressure cooker inside, and made off with the bag, authorities said.
The NYPD previously said they did not believe the two men were suspects in the attack, however, the FBI would like to talk to them and recover the stolen luggage. Authorities said it's possible the men actually disarmed the bomb, accidentally, while removing it from the duffel bag.
