Guardian Angels Founder Has Tooth Knocked Out In Attack: NYPD

CHELSEA, NY — Anti-crime activist Curtis Silwa was attacked by a teen in Chelsea last week and slugged so hard he lost a front tooth, police said Monday.

Silwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels who survived being shot at point-blank range in an East Village mob hit, was exiting Penn Station when he broke up a fight between a group of teenagers Friday at 7 p.m., police said.

After the altercation, one of the teens followed the 64-year-old as he continued walking on W. 33rd Street near Eighth Avenue, cops said.

The teen charged up behind Silwa and slugged him in the face, causing him to lose a front tooth. He also suffered bruising across his face but refused medical attention, police said.

It is unclear why the teen stalked and attacked Silwa, cops said. A police investigation is ongoing.
