L Train Service Halted In Most Of Brooklyn, MTA Says

L train service was shut down in most of Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon because of a police investigation.

BROOKLYN, NY — A large portion of the L train line was completely shut down on Wednesday afternoon, just before the evening rush hour, because of an ongoing police investigation in Brooklyn.

The MTA said that there would be no trains traveling from Brooklyn to Manhattan while the investigation continued; all Manhattan-bound trains will stop at the Atlantic Avenue station in Brownsville.

Trains from Manhattan to Brooklyn will end at Lorimer Street, the MTA said. The closure leaves a large stretch of the L line with no service just before the Wednesday evening rush hour. It was unclear how long the service would be affected.

The MTA said in a tweet that there was "NYPD activity" at the Halsey Street stop in Bushwick.

An NYPD spokesman did not immediately have details about the investigation. It was unclear whether anyone was injured.
