Levain Bakery began as a small bread shop West 74th Street, which was opened in 1995 by co owners Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald. It was only when the duo created an "ultimate chocolate chip walnut cookie" to prepare for a triathlon that the shop offered cookies, and the rest is history.
The shop has since expanded to Harlem, Upper East Side, NoHo, Williamsburg and more New York locations, as well as other hubs in Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. In fact, Levain Bakery named the nation's most popular bakery in 2023, according to a TikTok analysis conducted by none other than Strawberry Shortcake.
