Chelsea Hit-And-Run Cyclist Leaves Man Critically Injured, Cops Say

A man is in critical condition after getting hit by a cyclist Thursday at the intersection of West 22nd Street and Eighth Avenue, NYPD said.

CHELSEA, NY — A man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run cyclist collision on Thursday left him lying on the street in Chelsea, police said.

The 44-year-old man was walking near the intersection of West 22nd Street and Eighth Avenue about 6:40 p.m., when he was struck by the cyclist, police said.

The cyclist was riding northbound on Eighth Avenue as the man was attempting to cross the Lower Manhattan intersection, police said.

The cyclist fled the scene and did not return, police said.

The injured man was found lying on the roadway with trauma to the head, and rushed to NYC Health and Hospital/Bellevue in critical condition, police said.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
