CHELSEA, NY - A straphanger was stabbed in the back with scissors during an attack inside a Chelsea subway station early Tuesday, authorities said.

The 54-year-old male victim was waiting for a train on the southbound platform of the 23rd Street station C/E station near Eighth Avenue about 1:55 a.m. when a man in his 40s approached, police said.

The unidentified man claimed the 54-year-old had stabbed him earlier with a needle, police said. The man then stabbed the 54-year-old with scissors in the backside.

The victim was transported “conscious and alert” to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated for a puncture wound to the back, police said.
