Woman Raped Inside Standard Hotel, Police Say

CHELSEA, NY — A 24-year-old man raped a woman early on Sunday inside the high-end Standard Hotel, police said.

The woman told police she was raped shortly after she and the man went to a room inside the hotel at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, according to authorities. The man attacked her inside the room, after which the victim ran downstairs to the lobby and told a hotel employee, who called police, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

Officers responded to the hotel, located at 848 Washington St., and arrested the man on rape charges. The man was later released and had not been charged by the District Attorney's office as of Monday, police said.
