Woman Robbed After Meeting Man at Dream Hotel

The 28-year-old woman had over $3,000 worth of property stolen after meeting the guy that night.

CHELSEA, NY — One reveler at the Dream Hotel Downtown awoke to an unwelcome surprise the next day when she found her property missing.

According to police, the 28-year-old woman met a man at the Dream Hotel at 355 W. 16th St. at 4 a.m. on Aug. 6 and the two went to a room with the woman falling asleep with him there. When she woke up at 12:30 p.m. she found he was gone and her backpack and MacBook Pro had been stolen, police said. The items were valued at $3,245.

Police released surveillance footage of the man at the Dream Hotel prior to the theft.

The Dream Downtown has 314 rooms as well as four clubs and a glass-bottom pool. The hotel was founded by Vikram Chatwal, who police are investigating over an incident in which two dogs were set on fire.
