Woman Sexually Assaulted, Beaten Near Chelsea Piers: NYPD
A man approached the woman for a cigarette then suddenly attacked, police said.
CHELSEA, NY — A brute sexually assaulted a woman Friday near Chelsea Piers in Hudson River Park, police said.
The 36-year-old victim was walking along Pier 62 near 12th Avenue and West 23rd Street in Chelsea when a man struck up a conversation, asking the women for a cigarette. He then punched her in the face multiple times and sexually assaulted her, authorities said.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment with trauma to the face and neck, police said. Officials describe the suspect, who may be homeless, as a heavyset man in his 3os.
