If you haven't seen the local candidates yet, there are at least two opportunities this week. The League of Women Voters hosts a Suffolk County legislative candidates forum Monday at the Harborfields Public Library at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, the PTA Council of Half Hollow Hills has scheduled a candidates night Tuesday at Half Hollow Hills High School East at 6:30 p.m.

Nocturnal Wanderings
Join Sweetbriar Naturalists Friday (7-9:30 p.m.) at the Sweetbriar Nature Center
(62 Eckernkamp Dr., Smithtown) for an evening with owls and other creatures of the night. Participants will meet two resident owls, an opossum, and a couple of other nocturnal wanderers. Then, go on a night walk on our preserve to call wild owls and return for a warm drink. Heavy rain cancels. Who: Adults and teenagers only. How much: $5/person for members scouts, $6 for non-members.
