Bob Costas Elected to NSSA Hall of Fame

Commack native adds another honor to his resume.

Legendary broadcaster and Commack native Bob Costas has been elected to the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame.

Costas, who has a number of broadcasting responsibilities with NBC Sports and the Major League Baseball Network, will be inducted alongside Washington Post sports columnist John Feinstein in a ceremony in Salisbury, N.C. in June. The event marks the 50th Anniversary of the NSSA Hall of Fame.

A 22-time Emmy Award winner, Costas has been with NBC for more than 30 years. This summer he will broadcast his 10th Olympic games and since 2005 he has been the host of NBC’s “Football Night in America.”

During the ceremony in June, ESPN’s Dan Shulman will be recognized as National Sportscaster of the Year, while Joe Posnanski, from Sports Illustrated, receives his National Sportswriter of the Year honors, along with 103 State Sportscasters and Sportswriters of the Year from throughout the United States.
