COMMACK, NY — The 14th annual blood drive honoring fallen Suffolk County police officer Glen Ciano is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Commack, county officials announced.

The blood drive will be held at the Commack Fire Department, at 6309 Jericho Turnpike, Commack.

There is a nationwide blood emergency and a chronic shortage of blood supplies in New York, according to officials. There is currently only a one-day supply of Types O-, O+, B-, as well as a critical shortage of platelets, far below the ideal seven-day inventory of blood products.
