Commack Pride Takes Girls Soccer Cup

Local players reign champions in Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association final for girls under 12.

Commack Pride defeated the Rockville Centre Rebels, 3-0, in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association final of the Girls-Under-12 ENY Upper 90 Cup June 1.

The two Long Island Junior Soccer League teams played at Stringham Park in LaGrange.

Commack received their goals from Brianna Passaro, Donna Uriquillis and an own goal. Keeper Jenna Regino recorded the shutout. The Pride currently lead in LIJSL Division 1.

“We kept the ball more and were able to stay in control of the game,” Commack coach Moussa Sy, a former Long Island Rough Rider who has been inducted into the Dowling College Hall of Fame, said in a press release.

Rockville Centre received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award as selected by the match referees. Now retired, Mr. Rubenstein was seemingly involved in every facet of New York soccer for decades and is a member of the Halls of Fame of Eastern New York, the US Amateur Soccer Association and the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
