DoorDash Gears Up To Open First LI DashMart Store In Commack
The company is hiring for LI's first DashMart store, where grocery and convenience items can be delivered via DoorDash or picked up.
COMMACK, NY — Long Island will soon get another convenient delivery retail option, when DoorDash opens a DashMart store in Commack later this year. DashMarts are the company's convenience stores where customers order grocery items that can then be picked up in person via pickup windows or delivered via the DoorDash app.
The company is currently hiring for a new Commack DashMart, which will open at 6133 Jericho Tpke., according to a DoorDash spokesperson who told Newsday that the opening will be sometime during the third quarter of 2022.
Unlike typical DoorDash delivery drivers, who are independent contractors, DashMart employees will be employed by DoorDash. The warehouse associate jobs that are listed for the Commack store offer full-time salary and benefits.

The first DashMart to open in New York State was a Manhattan store in Chelsea, which debuted in 2021. DashMarts stock pantry staples, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy items, meat and seafood, and also prioritizes including local vendors, the company says.
The Commack DashMart will be the first of two on Long Island, along with a West Babylon DashMart that will open this summer, according to the DoorDash spokesperson.

Newsday reported that DoorDash has applied to the state liquor authority for a license to sell and deliver beer and cider in New York, including at the Suffolk locations.
