Man Dies After Car Crashes Into Commack Utility Pole: Police

The man was discovered four hours after the crash, police say.

COMMACK, NY — A man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Commack on Thursday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Around 4 a.m., the car was speeding southbound on Motor Parkway, near Shinbone Lane, when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a curve, struck a utility pole and crashed into a wooded area, police said.

However, the crash was not discovered until 8 a.m. when a passing motorist called 911.

The man, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene, police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
