Man Killed In 1-Car Commack Crash

The man struck a median, causing his car to overturn, police say.

COMMACK, NY — A driver died in a one-car crash in Commack on Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

A 74-year-old man was operating a 1989 GMC Suburban southbound when he struck a median on Larkfield Road around 5:50 p.m., causing his car to overturn, police said.

He was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives are investigating whether the motorist suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
