3 College Students Honored By PSEG Long Island For National Intern Day

BABYLON, NY — Three Babylon area college students have been recognized by PSEG Long Island in honor of National Intern Day on July 31.

The students, who are among 24 local college students who began 12-week paid internships at PSEG Long Island on June 2, are sophomores, juniors, seniors and master’s degree students studying engineering, accounting, economics and cybersecurity at schools across Long Island, New York State and beyond.

Laura Corcoran of Deer Park is majoring in accounting at the University of South Carolina, Alessandra Amaya-Reyes of Lindenhurst is also majoring in accounting at Adelphi University and Amanda Dolan of West Islip is majoring in finance at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.

Over the summer, the group is exploring utility careers and getting hands-on experience in various PSEG Long Island departments, including distribution operations, overhead and underground construction, cybersecurity, finance and accounting, customer operations, customer experience, real estate, human resources and several engineering groups.

"My internship in the customer advocacy department is not specifically related to my field of study, accounting. However, it is allowing me to learn how PSEG Long Island helps its customers who face financial hardship," Amaya-Reyes said . "I have participated in several community events and am grateful for these opportunities that are providing learning experiences for me."

PSEG Long Island internships are available to college sophomores, juniors and seniors. The company will post its internship opportunities for summer 2026 here between October 2025 and February 2026 and recommends interested students set up a keyword alert on the website to be notified of postings.
