Michael Bowen could serve up to 19 years for his role in 2010 incident that took the life of Andre Menzies.

A Brooklyn man has been sentenced in a 2010 drunk driving case that killed a New York City police officer from North Babylon who was driving home from work.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said Michael Bowen, 51, will serve between six and one-third and 19 years in state prison for killing Andre Menzies.

Just after midnight on Nov. 15, 2010, Bowen was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Astro Van heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway when he collided with the 1997 Honda Accord driven by Menzies. The incident happened between exits 41 and 42.
