Wyandanch Man Gets 50 Years For Rape, Sexual Abuse Of Daughter: DA

Prosecutors say the abuse began when the girl was 12 years old and continued for nearly 2 years before she reported it to a teacher.

WYANDANCH, NY — A 48-year-old Wyandanch man has been sentenced to 50 years in state prison after a jury found him guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing his young daughter over the course of several years, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

The man was convicted of multiple felony sex crimes, including first-degree course of sexual conduct of a child, a first-degree criminal sexual act, and second-degree rape in the second degree, prosecutors said.

According to the evidence presented at trial, the abuse began in 2022, when the victim was 12 years old and moved to Suffolk County to live with her father after an out-of-state family member who had been caring for her could no longer do so, the DA’s office said.

That summer, prosecutors said, the defendant began sexually abusing the child, initially presenting the conduct as something meant to “help” her. The abuse escalated over time and continued until April 2024.

In April 2024, the victim disclosed the abuse to a friend and later to a teacher, prompting an investigation, prosecutors said.

The defendant was arrested on April 29, 2024, following an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department.

On Oct. 30, 2025, a jury convicted the defendant of one count of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a class B violent felony; one count of first-degree criminal sexual act, a class B violent felony; three counts of second-degree criminal sexual act, class D violent felonies; one count of second degree rape, a class D violent felony; and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, the DA said.

The trial was held before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Wilutis.

The defendant was sentenced on Dec. 19 to 50 years in prison, according to prosecutors. He was represented by defense attorney Eon Smith, who was not immediately available for comment.

“I’m thankful the victim in this case was brave enough to come forward,” Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. “She didn’t deserve this, and I hope today’s decision helps her heal from this trauma.”
