Deer Park Students Make 'Snowflakes of Hope' for Burn Victim

Deer Park students made a difference by making something special for a child in need last week.

Fourth-grade students in Jennifer Arella’s class at John F. Kennedy Intermediate School made “Snowflakes of Hope” for 8-year-old burn victim Safyre Terry of Rotterdam, according to a school press release.

Terry, who lost her family in a 2013 house fire, had requested cards for Christmas this year, and received more than a million, the release states.

The JFK class decided to make paper snowflakes in lieu of cards, with special messages written on each.
