Deer Park Students Show Compassion and Sing Carols in West Islip
Students visited patients at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center in West Islip Dec. 16.

Deer Park High School students in the Students Against Destructive Decisions club paid a warm holiday visit patients at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center in West Islip Dec. 16, according to a school news release.
The SADD students sang carols, held a holiday trivia contest and interviewed the clients, asking them what Christmas was like when they were children.
“Our students learned the importance of giving back to the community,” said SADD adviser Janet Werner. “They had fun mingling and sharing stories with the seniors. It was gratifying to see the compassion and respect our students showed to these important members of our community.”
