Police ID Driver Killed By Flying Tire On Sunrise Highway
The tire apparently came loose and went sailing over a Sunrise Highway overpass. It struck two cars, killing one person, police say.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m. Friday: Police have identified the person killed as 60-year-old David Dorazio, of Lindenhurst.
NORTH BABYLON, NY – One person is dead after a freak accident in which a tractor-trailer tire slammed into two vehicles on Sunrise Highway in North Babylon Thursday afternoon.
The state's Department of Transportation said a tractor-trailer was traveling on Route 231 when it lost a tire on the Sunrise Highway overpass around 2:15 p.m.

The tire then struck two cars that were heading west on Sunrise Highway, police said. A man driving one of those cars was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released his name. No one in the second car was injured.
First Squad detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
