Fallen Former Deer Park Firefighter To Be Honored

Newsday reports that Babylon Town will rename W. 22nd Street in Deer Park after Victor A. Isler.

A stretch of W. 22nd Street in Deer Park will soon be renamed for a fallen firefighter.

According to Newsday, the roadway between Long Island Avenue and Lake Avenue will be renamed to honor Victor A. Isler, a former member of the Deer Park Fire Department and the New York City Fire Department.

Isler, a Long Island native, moved to North Carolina in 2007 and joined the Salisbury Fire Department in Salisbury.

The Salisbury (N.C.) Post reported that on March 7, 2008, Isler, 40, and fellow firefighter Justin Monroe, 19, were killed while battling a fire at Salisbury Millwork. Isler and Monroe were the first Salisbury firefighters killed in the line of duty since 1971.

The Town has not set a date for the street renaming ceremony
