In a letter obtained by Patch dated May 13, North Babylon superintendent Kenneth E. Graham notified parents of the incident, writing:

"As a follow-up to my message to high school parents and families this morning, two unauthorized individuals were found on campus just before the start of the school day. The letter continues:

"In a separate and deeply troubling incident, a swastika was discovered written on a cabinet in a classroom at North Babylon High School. We take this act of hate very seriously. The symbol has no place in our school or society. The police have been notified and are actively investigating this matter. Acts of hate and intolerance will not be tolerated and we are committed to fostering a school climate that is inclusive, respectful and safe for all."
