Ishrat Ahmed: Deer Park HS Salutatorian

Throughout her high school career, Deer Park High School salutatorian Ishrat Ahmed has been an active student involved in a number of extra-curricular activities while maintaining a grade point average of 96.63.

She served on the student council each of her four years in high school and was vice-president during her senior year. She also served as treasurer during her junior year and was vice-president and treasurer as a sophomore.

Ishrat also became a member of the National Honor Society in 2010. She served as its Tutor Chair during her senior year and in her junior year provided tutoring for two hours a month for six months and also helped organize a college fair.

She was also a member of the Spanish Honor Society, serving as the group’s vice-president in her senior year and secretary during her junior year. Inducted in 2009 as a sophomore, that year she provided tutoring to elementary level ESL students.

Outside of school, Ishrat works at RAINN, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network. Since the summer of 2011 she has served as a counselor and was the group’s secretary from 2010 through 2011.
