Man Arrested After Hit-And-Run Crash Hospitalizes E-Biker: Police

A man was arrested on Saturday for fleeing the scene of a car crash that hospitalized an E-bike rider on Long Island, Suffolk police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY — A Long Island man was arrested for a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured an E-bike rider on Long Island, according to Suffolk County police.

On Saturday, Manuel Serrano Sanchez, 45, of West Babylon was arrested after fleeing the scene of a crash that seriously injured Tiager Collier, 23, of Wyandanch, in West Babylon on Friday evening, police said.

Serrano Sanchez was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date, police said.

Collier was riding a Z8 Electric Bike in the eastbound lane of Fulton Street when he was struck at the intersection of Fulton Street and Troy Avenue by a vehicle driven by Serrano Sanchez traveling southbound at 5:08 p.m., police said.

Serrano Sanchez fled the scene and Collier was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
