Drama Club puts on popular musical, only a few days after blizzard crippled Long Island.
Snow or not – you can't stop the beat!
North Babylon High School's Drama Club put on two performances of the popular musical "Hairspray" only days after the blizzard struck Long Island on Feb. 10.
Set in the 1960s, “Hairspray” tells the story of Tracy Turnblad’s dream to be a featured performer on the dance television show “The Corny Collins Show.” Once her dream is realized, Tracy launches a campaign to racially integrate the show.

Leading an outstanding cast of performers was Lauren Coccaro as Tracy Turnblad. Working alongside Lauren were Brian Frank as Tracy’s love interest Link, Katie Schneider as Tracy’s best friend Penny, Emily Winter and Dan Benson as Tracy’s parents, and Joseph Pascone, Carolyn Mistretta, Kayla Crowley, Billy Zangerle, Maria Pigatti and Elijah Andrews as Corny Collins, Velma, Amber, Spritzer, Motormouth and Seaweed.
David Signorelli directed the show with assistance from musical director Larry Wurtzel, costume designer MarySusan Noll, orchestra director Frank Rizzo, stage crew director Philip Handler and choreographer Erica Beal.
