On Deer Park-North Babylon Patch’s Facebook page, Cynthia Green wrote, “Not excited about the yearly addition to my tax bill. Hopefully it makes some kind of improvement to my perfectly functional drainage system.”

Jerry King commented, “Within the Town of Babylon there are areas of poor drainage that could use a sewer system. However, in much of the town, especially areas to the north, the water table is lower and there is absolutely no need.”

In our on-going “Empty In…” series, readers this week were asked for their thoughts on filling the at the corner of Woods Road and Route 231.

In our poll 46 percent of respondents said they would like to see a new chain restaurant, 33 percent said “other” and 20 percent would like another gas station.

Beyond the poll, readers offered some other suggestions as well, which included a sporting goods store, sports bar or a Starbucks.

But Tom Gillen offered a much different suggestion, saying he would like to see something done for the art community.

“Huntington and Northport both have ‘rotating’ galleries on Main Street. They are privately owned but open to the public. An artist would have to buy a membership to the gallery in order to have their work displayed, but the exhibits are open to the public to view. They have launch parties whenever a new exhibit is going up. With that big space maybe they could even do an outdoor display during the warmer months.”

Check out this week’s polls below and feel free to vote and share your thoughts on both topics.
