70th Precinct Releases Summer Safety Tips
The police have outlined some best practices for having a safe summer.

The 70th Precinct has released safety tips that residents should keep in mind during the summer.
The release included tips for senior citizens, traffic safety, what to do when going on vacation and what to do in the case of a robbery. Here are some of the tips:
- If you taking medication that makes you drowsy or dizzy, walk with someone who is alert or wait until you feel more alert.
- Be cognizant of locking your house windows and doors when you leave your home to prevent any opportunity of a break-in. Use motion lights at night if possible.
- If you go on vacation, tell a neighbor to remove circulars and mail from your mailbox or front porch. Don’t leave valuables near an open window where an unknown person can reach in and take it.
- As school concludes, please be aware that more children are outside running and playing ball.
- Don’t carry your cell phone or other electrical devices out in the open.
- "If you are robbed, don’t be a hero." Let the robber have your property and try to remember what the robber looks like. Remebering distinguishing trates such as sex, race, skin coloring, age, height & weight, clothing, voices, scars, tattoos and nicknames used can help catch the perpetrator.
