- Councilmember Mathieu Eugene announced his support of creating an African Burial Ground memorial at the former site of PS 90 at Bedford and Church avenues in Flatbush, instead of affordable housing. The site appears to date back to at least the 1700s when Flatbush was a Dutch colony, and at least two enslaved people were buried there. (Brooklyn Paper)
- The city is reviving a plan to place a pesticide warehouse in East Flatbush, despite widespread community disapproval, including Councilwoman Louis Farah. Residents are worried about the potential exposure to toxic chemicals if a leak in the facility were to occur. (Brooklyn Paper)
- A Hispanic assemblywoman accused the Brooklyn Democratic Party "boss" and assemblywoman for parts of Flatbush, Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn, of discrimination and racism after she allegedly told her "people are sick and tired of you, your stupidity." Bichotte-Hermelyn's husband, who's a district leader, allegedly repeated the sexist lyrics of a Spanish song when Assemblymember Maritza Davila entered the meeting held on Zoom. Now a group of lawmakers are asking Bichotte-Hermelyn to resign as head of the party. (The City)
- The historic Lefferts House in Prospect Park is undergoing extensive renovations. It has a complex history, dating back to the 19th century and having been home to both "free and enslaved Africans." (Brownstoner)
