Books for the Summer Reading Season

Summer reading season is upon us, so here's a list of books to get your through those days by the pool


With the summer comes warm weather, a bit of down-time and the chance to kick back with a good book. Here's a list of recommendations to get you started on your summer reading list.


A Classic

Who doesn't love F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby? Set in the roaring Twenties, the novel follows midwesterner Nick Carraway as he travels to Long Island's North Shore andNew York City, meets the mysterious Jay Gatsby and all that follows. 

Break out this old favorite and polish up on the story before the 3D version starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carrie Mulligan hits theaters.


A New Release

Four Sisters, All Queens is the latest by Sherry Jones, an author and journalist known for her controversial debut novel The Jewel of Medina, a novel about the Muslim Prophet Muhammad’s favorite wife.

Historical fiction enthusiasts will enjoy reading this novel set in 13th century Europe that follows the tale of four royal sisters vying for power.

Highly recommended and quickly gaining popularity, this might be worth adding to your library or downloading to your e-reader. Or, head to the  to check it out.


A Book for Those Young Adults

Another classic that will soon hit the silver screen, Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower holds a special place in many hearts, and it's time to pass it along.

A true coming-of-age novel, protagonist Charlie is an introverted freshman taken under the wings of two seniors who help him embrace all that comes with being part of the real world.


A Chart Topper

Sitting on the top of the New York Times' Bestseller List, 11th Hour by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro is the latest in The Women's Murder Club series and follows Lindsay Boxer whose personal life is laid bare when a murder links the death of four of San Francisco's most untouchable criminals.

James Patterson has had more New York Times bestsellers than any other writer, according to Guinness World Records, so why not give the guy a try?
