Brooklyn Pedestrian Killed by MTA Bus
The victim was hit by a bus at Ocean Avenue and Avenue K on Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Rukhsana Khan, a local mother of six who, according to the New York Daily News, ”stepped off of a curb in front of her Brooklyn home on Wednesday night to pick up her son from a baby sitter across the street and did not make it to the other side alive.”

An MTA express bus slammed the woman, identified by family as Rukhsana Khan, as she crossed midblock on Ocean Ave. between Ave. J and K in Midwood at 5:51 p.m., police said.
An unidentified 41-year-old woman was struck and killed by a public MTA bus on Ocean Avenue near Avenue K in upper Midwood, Brooklyn, late Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
The driver of the bus reportedly stayed at the scene after he hit the woman.
“The investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesman said.
Brooklyn-bound BM1 and BM4 buses were detoured, and the B9 delayed, due to the investigation on Ocean Avenue. (Service updates available here.)
Citing NYPD sources, the New York Daily News reported that the victim was a 41-year-old woman who was “slammed by the front left bumper” of a BM1 express bus just before 5 p.m.
“The lady was in the middle of the street crossing,” a witness told the Daily News. “I heard like a boom and she looked like a plastic doll when she got hit.”
A man who was aboard the bus said: “The bus driver pulled to the side and got out. Then I heard people gasping. That’s when I knew that somebody got hit.”
UPDATE: The NYPD released the following information Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at approximately 4:49 p.m., police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck in the vicinity of Ocean Avenue and Avenue J within the confines of the 70 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers determined that an MTA BM1 Express Bus, being driven by a 47-year-old male, was traveling southbound on Ocean Avenue approaching Avenue K when it struck a 41-year-old female pedestrian traveling from east to west over Ocean Avenue outside of the marked crosswalk.
