Canarsie Man Is Victim of Fatal Drive-By Shooting in Flatbush: NYPD

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — Police have identified the vehicle they think was used in the drive-by shooting that took the life of a 21-year-old Canarsie man on Sep. 2.

According to the NYPD, Anthony Francis was sitting in his car in front of 983 E. 31st St. at about 7:30 p.m. when a man drove up, shot Francis, and drove off. A woman in the car with Francis was not injured.

Responding police officers found Francis with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. The victim was taken to Community Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The NYPD think the shooter's vehicle is a black, two-door Dodge Challenger with black rims. The car (pictured below) was last seen headed north on East 31st St.

Francis was shot in the NYPD's 63rd Precinct, which patrols the Flatlands and part of Flatbush. Through Sep. 11, major crimes in the 63rd had collectively decreased nearly 12 percent compared to the same period last year, according to official police statistics.

A total of 14 shootings with 16 victims had been recorded in the 63rd through Sep. 11, the same as last year.
