Yehuda Levin, Chabad of Ditmas Park's director, said he wanted to share the message of Chanukah—that light and warmth can triumph over darkness.

This message applies both to people facing oppression, such as in the Chanukah story, and in each person's personal life, he said.

Everyone faces difficulties and darkness, he said."But our spirit is what keeps us above it all. ... Just light a candle, ignite your spirit and all your darkness will disappear on its own."

Levin and his crew will be in front of the tot lot on Cortelyou Road and Argyle until at least 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
