Ditmas Fitness Eyes Opening

"We are just about there," said owner Juan Spencer of the eagerly-anticipated gym's opening.

Only a final inspection and one last landlord project stand in the way of Ditmas Fitness' long-awaited opening, said owner Juan Spencer, who told Ditmas Park Patch the opening can't come soon enough. "We are just about there," he said.

He did not name a specific opening date, but noted there will be a soft opening week very soon. "…[R]efreshments will be served," Spencer said. "This way folks can leisurley stop by take a tour and chat. All equipment will be idle during this time."

Spencer also noted that the website and phone line are fully functional at this time. "The website is up and should answer any preliminary questions," he said. "Additionally the telephone line, 347-406-9663 is active now as well."

"The first time you come in, it's on the house," Spencer said. "That gives a person flexibility to think about [the membership]."

"I'm not just here for your money," he said. "The quality of service and the level of service is what its all about."

The gym, located at 1004 Beverley Road, between Stratford and Coney Island Avenue, will be open Monday through Thursday 6 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

While the opening of Ditmas Fitness is still to be decided, the website also notes that interested parties are free to stop by to say hello, get a tour and check out the gym from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

"I want it to be a comfortable place," Spencer said. "I want to create good energy; a person can come here to hang out, get out of the house for a while- whatever you came up to that door with, it can be left there."
