Ditmas Park Artists Come Together for Interactive Studio Tour
This year's F.A.S.T. is creating a more dynamic experience for the visitor, says artists CJ Segal-Isaacson.
Local artists have come together to organize this year's , giving those interested a chance to step into the studio and watch the creative process unfold.
Artists will be available to showcase their completed works, discuss their processes and give demonstrations.
"The exciting part is the interaction," said CJ Segal-Isaacson, an artist who specializes in mixed media jewelry and long-time Ditmas Park resident. "At a museum, you don't have a chance to interrupt and figure out the process."

Segal-Isaacson noted that this year's tour is much more focused on giving back to the community than years prior, with many of the artists not even considering this an opportunity to make a sale.
"These artists don't consider themselves entrepreneurs," she said. "This is their way of giving back to the community."

Tours will take place on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Homes in the area that belong to the artists and are open to visitors will be distinguished on a map, and all are in walking distance from each other, Segal-Isaacson said. She added that in years prior, visitors felt the tour was too spread out, so this year many artists are doubling up to keep the tour more condensed.
"There's something delightful about being able to walk to each other's houses," she continued. "We are in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city and we have been supported by the local people, so now we're offering something back."
Some artists visitors will get a chance to admire and learn from are:
- Kathy Levine uses cast paper and mixed media to create paintings and sculptures that look at nature in an urban environment. She is showing at 1408 Ditmas Avenue.
- Eric Pesso's abstract wood sculptures are created using wood from local trees. He is showing at 297 Argyle Road.
- Arturo Garcia is a classical realist painter. He is showing at 1206 Beverley Road.
