Ditmas Park's Victorian Homes Attracts Filmmaker
Ditmas Park has become the go-to destination for filmmakers looking for a beautiful setting.

When up-and-coming filmmaker Lemia Bodden told her producer she was in the market for the perfect filming location, he didn't hesitate in naming Ditmas Park as the place to be.
Bodden is looking to film 'Glance,' a short film that "chronicles a day in the life of a lonely New Yorker who looks to others for connections and validations," she said.
To make this film a reality, Bodden set out to find a home, contacting as many people as possible through her blog and by handing out approximately 70 fliers in the neighborhood. So far she has received a warm reception.
"The architecture is beautiful," Bodden said. "When I asked my producer, Matt [Leiderman] where I should be looking, right away he named Ditmas Park. Everyone's being really welcoming and receptive," she said. "It doesn't really feel like New York."
Soon, she will begin casting the project and ultimately plans to submit the short film to film festivals. "I'm hoping to make it a selling short and then make it a feature" she said.
So far, five interested parties have contacted Bodden, which will make her search for the perfect home that much more possible. "I've always liked that type of architecture and was just bowled over by the homes here," she said.
