Ditmas Park Sex Attack: Young Woman Stalked and Assaulted by 2 Men, Police Say

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — A 25-year-old woman was stalked, sexually assaulted and beaten by a pair of men early Wednesday morning in Ditmas Park, according to the NYPD.

The attack happened at 2:15 a.m. on May 25 near the intersection of Tennis Court and Ocean Avenue, police said.

This marks the fourth reported rape attempt in the immediate vicinity of Prospect Park in a little more than a month — two in Park Slope, one in Prospect Heights and this one in Ditmas Park. Three of the four attacks occurred in the wee hours. More details here.

In the latest assault, two men followed their victim down the street, at which point one of them pushed her against a car and groped her, according to the NYPD.

She was able to push him off and enter a residential building, police said — but the men followed her through a courtyard and into the entrance of a second building.

The men then allegedly held the woman against a door and tried to pull her pants off. When she continued to fight, police said, one of the men pushed her down and punched her in the face repeatedly.

At that point, a building resident came into the building's entrance and the men fled, according to police.

Detectives described the first suspect as a black or Hispanic male between 18 and 25 years old and standing between 5-feet-8-inches and 5-feet-11-inches in height. He has a medium build, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, black sneakers and a blue jean jacket, police said.

The second man is a black or Hispanic male of the same age, height and build, police said, and was last seen wearing a black sweater, dark colored jeans and a colored baseball cap.

This alleged sex assault took place in the NYPD's 70th Precinct, covering Ditmas Park and most of Flatbush. According to official police statistics, through May 15, major crimes in the 70th were down nearly 9 percent compared to the same time period last year.

However, rapes have nearly doubled: Through mid-May, 12 sexual assaults have been reported this year, compared to 7 last year.
