Epic 'Flatbush Frolic' Fest Planned for Ditmas Park This Weekend
Live music, chess, sing-a-longs, pizza-eating contests and (much, much) more will be replacing traffic along Cortelyou Road this weekend.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — Ten live bands, a pizza-eating contest and a chess challenge starring the P.S. 139 Chess Ninjas are just a few of the events in store for this year's Flatbush Frolic festival along Cortelyou Road.
The event, organized by the Flatbush Development Corporation, is now in its 41st year. It will be held along Cortelyou Road from Ocean Avenue to Coney Island Avenue on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The live-music stage will be manned by Cortelyou Road Radio and will feature sets by Latin Fever On2 Dance Studio (1:10 p.m.), SHIMASHIMA (2:45 p.m.) and Jake G and The Soul Vibrance (4:30 p.m.), among other acts.

A "Tot Lot Playground" will be available for the kids in attendance, as will a sing-along session by Brooklyn musician Debbie Deane and other activities hosted by Prospect Gymnastics and the Alden Moves Dance Studio.
The pizza-eating contest, featuring slices from San Remo Pizzeria, will get started around 1:40 p.m. Then there's the Cortelyou Wine & Beer Garden, by way of Sycamore Brooklyn and The Farm on Adderley; an arts and crafts fair; a "Mind Body Fitness Area"; an NYPD rock climb; and numerous vendors selling their wares and providing info about community and city programs.
